As a female entrepreneur, I am always looking for inspiration. I love that there are so many options for gaining knowledge, but I usually turn to books to help guide me and motivate me through my business journey. A good read is also relaxing… so sit back, cozy up with some warm blankets and check out my Top 10 Books just for you — boss babe!
1. Boss Bitch by Nicole Lapin.
This book makes you think outside the box (or cubicle). Nicole has true talent at getting you to embrace your boss mentality and offers tons of raw and hilarious stories from her own career and experiences. Wondering what “boss bitch” stands for? “She is someone who takes charge of herself and her future and embraces being a “boss” in every sense of the word: whether as the boss of her own life, a boss at work, or the literal boss of her own company (or all three).”
2. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso
She’s sassy, sarcastic, smart, yet entertaining… In #GirlBoss, Sophia writes about her mistakes, strengths, and innovative ideas that took her from an unemployed dumpster-diver to CEO and founder of a $100+ million online fashion retailer! Just last month, Netflix released a comedy series Girlboss that is based on this book; Sophia’s autobiography. Needless to say, I binged watched it…
3. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
If you’re ready to kick some serious ass in your business, this one’s for you! This book will help you change and develop your beliefs and behaviors, learn to love yourself, overcome your fears and create a life you totally love. Once you’ve read this one, you can check out her newest book, You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth.
4. Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht
Aliza Licht is a mentor who is passionate about helping young women follow their dreams. Think of this book as a personal mentorship, learning how to take your career to the next level! I love that this book can relate to many different types of “boss babes” whether you are fresh out of high school, working toward your degree, and beyond.
5. Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek
This book is an extension to Simon’s bestseller Start With Why (another amazing book). Once you’ve developed your why, the next step is how to get people on board with it, which is where this book comes in. It teaches the most powerful leadership lessons, and while I haven’t yet finished it, the summary I read on Hoopla (one of the best apps for readers), has me excited to read more…
6. Grace, Not Perfection by Emily Ley
Since this book was currently checked out at my local library, I’m going to give you the breakdown from Fiore Boutique:
“Have you been told you can have it all, only to end up exhausted and occasionally out of sorts with the people you love? Are you ready for a new way of seeing your time? Learn to live a little more simply. Hold yourself and those you love to a more life-giving standard in Grace Not Perfection, and allow that grace to seep into your days, your family, and your heart.” — I seriously CANNOT WAIT to dive into this one!
7. She Means Business by Carrie Green
So I’ve been following Carrie Green for some time now. She’s a superb boss babe from the UK who is the founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association. Her new book shares her wonderful tips on turning your ideas into reality and becoming a successful entrepreneur. If you don’t get a chance to read this one right now, be sure to click the FEA link above and at least subscribe to her email list! #LOVEIT
*This book is just $1 on Kindle right now!!!
8. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elroy
This is another one that I’m very excited to start reading! It’s currently on my hold list at my library (I’m 4th in queue) if that’s any consolation as to how popular this book is… Here’s a quick summary:
“What if you could miraculously wake up tomorrow and any—or every area of your life was transformed? What would be different? Would you be happier? Healthier? More successful? In better shape? Would you have more energy? Less Stress? More Money? Better relationships? Which of your problems would be solved?”
Doesn’t this sound incredible already? The author even has free downloads and printables to help you in your transformation journey at miraclemorning.com.
9. Fearless and Free by Cara Alwill Leyba
Author of The Champagne Diet and Style Your Mind (both books I’ve added to my reading list), Cara shares 10 powerful strategies for gettting anything you want in life! Read the summary here:
“What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Imagine waking up every day knowing the world is literally at your perfectly manicured fingertips? Imagine living in a reality dripping with glittering opportunity and lush experiences at every turn? Imagine having the intuition to know how to handle every situation with total grace and discernment? I’m going to let you in on a secret: that life exists right at the edge of your comfort zone. And it’s available to you once you learn to become fearless.”
10. The Conquer Kit by Natalie MacNeil
Every female entrepreneur NEEDS this!! It’s a creative planner with fun exercises that will get you thinking and planning your way to a successful business! Check out the example below, that has you thinking ahead to the future…
I really enjoy checking out library books opposed to buying them! I love that there’s a due date to return the book so it gives me a sense of urgency to actually read it; otherwise, it would just sit on the shelf collecting dust (if I’m being honest). In the past, I’ve purchased books and didn’t truly enjoy them, so checking out books at the library lets me decide if that book is worth buying, and many of the ones listed above are totally worth adding to my bookshelf!
You should always choose a book that helps you achieve your career or personal goals.
Tip: Read the very first paragraph on the very first page. Does this book already sound impactful? Does the author hit topics that leave you wanting to read on? If so… get it!
