DIY Ring Light $12

Why a Ring Light??

A ring light is a handy tool for all types of photography and video. They provide a more uniform light that comes straight from your camera’s point of view. It’s amazing at eliminating shadows and great for use in darker areas…

Here’s What You Need:

  • Aluminum Foil $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • Metal Wreath $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • Zip Ties $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • 16ft Rope Light $8.98 (Walmart.com)

Step-By-Step How To:

*Note: Be sure to purchase the “Daylight” LED Rope Light (I used 16ft). Also, Walmart.com had this for $9, while in store it was $12.98 so I shipped it to the store for free same-day pickup to save a few bucks!

Step 1: Line your wire wreath with aluminum foil.

Step 2: Make sure you leave a little slack in your rope so that you can plug it in and have enough rope to move it wherever you’d like.

Step 3: Start on the outside edge of your wire wreath and zip tie your lighting rope onto it snugly. — You can use as many ties as you’d like! I started off by outlining the wreath and tying in 4 secure spots and then added them in more often as I worked my way in.

Step 4: Once I got to the end, I turned it over and secured the connector piece to the back. I used two zip ties to make sure it stays in place.

Step 5: Lastly, cut off all of the excess ties! Easy peasy…

Step 6: Figure out where you want to set up your light! I have a great place to just lean it up against the wall on my desk, but you could also use a metal toilet paper holder and zip tie it to that for a super cute stand!!!

Check It Out!

Just look at the difference!! The far left, is without the ring light, but with the room lights on. The middle picture is with the room lights still on, but with the ring light on as well. The far right is phenomenal; The lights are completely off and only the ring light is on… what do you think??

Side Note: This DIY was so simple, my toddler enjoyed helping!

Before looking up DIY’s on YouTube, I was about to invest $90 on Amazon on a super nice (very similar) Diva Ring Light!! Ahhh… I’m so glad I did my research. So I’m bringing you the most simple, cheapest tutorial out there for your very own diva ring light! — Enjoy!

Let me know what you think!!! If you have any additional questions, feel free to leave me a comment!

  • How will you be using your new DIY Diva Ring Light?? I’d love to hear….

Calling all Beach Babes!

This Surf’s Up! Texture Spray by Eva NYC is a weightless spray that adds instant volume, builds lasting texture and creates those famous beachy waves.

My Review:

Pros: The smell is absolutely incredible!! It has a coconut/mixed berries scent and the smell actually lasts all day!

Cons: It left my hair feeling very very dry and honestly didn’t create any more wave or texture to my hair than I have already.

Perfect Size For One!

These sweet, easy Duncan Hines Perfect For One treats are available in 18 various flavors! All you need is a mug, cake mix pouch, water and your microwave.

My Review:

Pros: I tried the Chocolate Lovers flavor and it was very yummy! I love how quick, easy and mess-free it was to make (ready in 1 minute) and the fact that you don’t need to bake a whole cake to indulge in a little sweetness. The price is great for a box of 4 at just $2.50!

Cons: It was just a tad bit dry; however, if you go on their website, they have TONS of recipes you can mix into your treat for added flavor!

Bath Time Fun!

I received both the lotion and baby wash by Live Clean in my #DarlingVoxBox! Its organic blends of chamomile and lavender with aloe to gently moisturize delicate skin. The tearless shampoo and wash gently cleanses leaving baby’s hair and skin feeling soft.

My Review:

Pros: This is by far THE BEST baby lotion and wash I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot)! The smell is absolutely incredible, the price is very affordable and the sizes of the bottles are very generous. The lotion will last for months as a little bit goes a long ways. Both of my little ones have eczema, and this is the only formula I’ve found that doesn’t dry out their skin! — HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE!! (Also, they are both hypoallergenic and 98% plant-derived)

Cons: I honestly don’t have any complaints! I wasn’t able to find their products at Walmart or Target, but Amazon is usually my go-to anyway for these kinds of products!

Kick of Energy!

These Nature’s Bounty Energy Gummies contain 250 mcg of B-12 along with a unique blend of herbs. B-12 is great for energy production, your mood, memory, heart, hair, skin and so much more!

My Review:

Pros: I received the watermelon flavor and they are sooooo yummy!! Each container includes 60 gummies to last you all month. I’m a huge fan of Nature’s Bounty products since I’m still breastfeeding (doc approved), so these are a wonderful way to get some healthy vitamins in…

Cons: I honestly didn’t feel any difference in my energy levels, but I am sure my body benefited from these delicious vitamins!

Butterly Delicious!

This Country Crock spread is a good source of both Calcium and Vitamin D. It’s perfect for toast, veggies, cooking and yummy baking! I received a FREE coupon in my #DarlingVoxBox from Influenster for this spread…

My Review:

Pros: My family has been using Country Crock for years and years!! It has a great buttery taste, but isn’t over the top like a few others. It also melts very well for baking and yummy popcorn! Their website also has a ton of amazing recipes you can save and try at a later date.

Cons: It’s a bit more expensive than several other competitor brands.

So what did you think? Do you see any products you’d like to try??

10 Must Reads For All #BossBabes!

As a female entrepreneur, I am always looking for inspiration. I love that there are so many options for gaining knowledge, but I usually turn to books to help guide me and motivate me through my business journey. A good read is also relaxing… so sit back, cozy up with some warm blankets and check out my Top 10 Books just for you — boss babe!

1. Boss Bitch by Nicole Lapin.

This book makes you think outside the box (or cubicle). Nicole has true talent at getting you to embrace your boss mentality and offers tons of raw and hilarious stories from her own career and experiences. Wondering what “boss bitch” stands for? “She is someone who takes charge of herself and her future and embraces being a “boss” in every sense of the word: whether as the boss of her own life, a boss at work, or the literal boss of her own company (or all three).”

2. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso

She’s sassy, sarcastic, smart, yet entertaining… In #GirlBoss, Sophia writes about her mistakes, strengths, and innovative ideas that took her from an unemployed dumpster-diver to CEO and founder of a $100+ million online fashion retailer! Just last month, Netflix released a comedy series Girlboss that is based on this book; Sophia’s autobiography. Needless to say, I binged watched it…

3. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

If you’re ready to kick some serious ass in your business, this one’s for you! This book will help you change and develop your beliefs and behaviors, learn to love yourself, overcome your fears and create a life you totally love. Once you’ve read this one, you can check out her newest book, You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth.

4. Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht

Aliza Licht is a mentor who is passionate about helping young women follow their dreams. Think of this book as a personal mentorship, learning how to take your career to the next level! I love that this book can relate to many different types of “boss babes” whether you are fresh out of high school, working toward your degree, and beyond.

5. Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek

This book is an extension to Simon’s bestseller Start With Why (another amazing book). Once you’ve developed your why, the next step is how to get people on board with it, which is where this book comes in. It teaches the most powerful leadership lessons, and while I haven’t yet finished it, the summary I read on Hoopla (one of the best apps for readers), has me excited to read more…

6. Grace, Not Perfection by Emily Ley

Since this book was currently checked out at my local library, I’m going to give you the breakdown from Fiore Boutique

“Have you been told you can have it all, only to end up exhausted and occasionally out of sorts with the people you love? Are you ready for a new way of seeing your time? Learn to live a little more simply. Hold yourself and those you love to a more life-giving standard in Grace Not Perfection, and allow that grace to seep into your days, your family, and your heart.” — I seriously CANNOT WAIT to dive into this one!

7. She Means Business by Carrie Green

So I’ve been following Carrie Green for some time now. She’s a superb boss babe from the UK who is the founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association. Her new book shares her wonderful tips on turning your ideas into reality and becoming a successful entrepreneur. If you don’t get a chance to read this one right now, be sure to click the FEA link above and at least subscribe to her email list! #LOVEIT

*This book is just $1 on Kindle right now!!!

8. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elroy

This is another one that I’m very excited to start reading! It’s currently on my hold list at my library (I’m 4th in queue) if that’s any consolation as to how popular this book is…  Here’s a quick summary:

“What if you could miraculously wake up tomorrow and any—or every area of your life was transformed? What would be different? Would you be happier? Healthier? More successful? In better shape? Would you have more energy? Less Stress? More Money? Better relationships? Which of your problems would be solved?”

Doesn’t this sound incredible already? The author even has free downloads and printables to help you in your transformation journey at miraclemorning.com

9. Fearless and Free by Cara Alwill Leyba

Author of The Champagne Diet and Style Your Mind (both books I’ve added to my reading list), Cara shares 10 powerful strategies for gettting anything you want in life! Read the summary here:

“What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Imagine waking up every day knowing the world is literally at your perfectly manicured fingertips? Imagine living in a reality dripping with glittering opportunity and lush experiences at every turn? Imagine having the intuition to know how to handle every situation with total grace and discernment? I’m going to let you in on a secret: that life exists right at the edge of your comfort zone. And it’s available to you once you learn to become fearless.”

10. The Conquer Kit by Natalie MacNeil

Every female entrepreneur NEEDS this!! It’s a creative planner with fun exercises that will get you thinking and planning your way to a successful business! Check out the example below, that has you thinking ahead to the future…

I really enjoy checking out library books opposed to buying them! I love that there’s a due date to return the book so it gives me a sense of urgency to actually read it; otherwise, it would just sit on the shelf collecting dust (if I’m being honest). In the past, I’ve purchased books and didn’t truly enjoy them, so checking out books at the library lets me decide if that book is worth buying, and many of the ones listed above are totally worth adding to my bookshelf!

You should always choose a book that helps you achieve your career or personal goals.

Tip: Read the very first paragraph on the very first page. Does this book already sound impactful? Does the author hit topics that leave you wanting to read on? If so… get it!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Wondering what to gift the special lady in your life? Mother’s Day is Sunday folks so it’s crunch time to find the most meaningful gift for such a wonderful superwoman…

No worries, I’m here to save the day! Check out my super nice (and thoughtful) gift guide to help you make her day special:

#1: But First Coffee.

Every mama might not love coffee as much as I do (who am I kidding?) but a super chic coffee mug is such an inexpensive gift that she’ll hang on to forever! I found this adorable MOM mug at the Dollar Tree $1!

Stuff her favorite candies or even a Starbucks Gift Card inside and she now has her hug in a mug, thanks to you!

#2: Adult Coloring Books are Totally In!

Have you heard the hype? Who doesn’t love to color (and I’m not talking about Elmo & princesses)?  There’s something about coloring that’s so therapeutic. Coloring has been known to reduce stress and anxiety, increase happiness and not to mention… will give mom a little r&r that she desperately needs!

So grab some colored pencils, find a cute coloring book just for her and add in a hand written coupon that says “One Hour of Relaxation!” — Hobby Lobby has 40% off Adult Coloring Books making most just $5 using Promo Code: 02263!

#3: Pampering.

Pampering can come in all kinds of forms depending on your special lady, but for most… something beautiful, something sweet and something scented always does the trick!

  • What are her favorite flowers? Stop by your local flower shop and snag a few of her favorite flowers, hand-write (yes, we LOVE the sentimental touch) a card and she’s in love!
  • What is her favorite sweet treat? Does she love chocolate (what woman doesn’t)? What about a slice of cake or cookies you and the kids make yourself? Again, we LOVE the thought more than the actual gift…
  • What are her favorite scents? My favorite (pictured above) is Jamberry’s Mother’s Day Indulgence Gift Set! This little set includes 3 glorious scented lotions that will make her feel like a million bucks! Add that hand-written card in and you’re set!

#4Tickets for Two!

When’s the last time you took your lady out? Just the two of you?

Why not give her a date night she’ll love?! She’ll love the spontaneity of having a day or evening out with you, away from the kiddos, enjoying quality time together. Be sure to plan a sitter ahead of time, so that’s one less thing she has to worry about…

#5: Jewelry She’ll Love!

I know, I know… jewelry is always the best gift known for a woman, but let’s get real for a second! You won’t be gifting her just any jewelry… this one will tell a story (her story) that she will hold tight to and wear with pride! Above, I’m wearing my kids’ initials paired with a chic watch!

Keep Collective is one of my FAVORITE jewelry spots for all things sentimental. You can create unique pieces for her that you can build onto over time (now you have her Birthday, Anniversary and Christmas gifts planned ahead of time). — You’re welcome!

First, you find the base. Do you want to get her a bracelet or a necklace? Then, you find the charms! The possibilities are endless here with birthstones, free engraving and so much more. The best part… everything comes gift packaged already!! #SCORE

I hope I left you with some perfect Mother’s Day gift giving ideas! I’m sure she will love and cherish anything you decide to get her… but DON’T FORGET:

  • Always include a hand-written Thank You card for her to thank her for all that she does. I’m sure she doesn’t hear it enough and showing your appreciation for her will be the icing on the cake! — Happy Shopping!

How Mowing the Grass is a Lot Like Losing Weight…

If you’ve been following me on social media, then you know that I’m currently on a weight loss journey (or lifestyle change as I like to call it). I’ve lost over 40 pounds now and only have 9 more to go to reach my goal weight! It hasn’t been easy, but the journey has been rewarding…

So what does this have to do with mowing the grass? Well you see, today I decided that I would do my husband a solid and cut the grass before he got home from work. He works all day, it’s the least I could do…

While I was out there, a lot of thoughts ran through my head. They actually reminded me of a lot of thoughts I’ve had while on my weight loss journey.

See if you can relate to any of these:

The Struggle

The struggle is real when it’s 84 degrees outside and the yard looks a lot bigger than when you don’t have to mow it.

The same goes for losing weight. You’ll hit various struggles, but will you let that derail you from starting?

The Process

So you’ve mowed the front yard, now you have the whole back! You’re sweaty with slightly sore legs and the thought of having the entire backyard left is daunting. You push through (quite literally) and feel great about what you’ve accomplished thus far. The picture above I was halfway finished! I could give up, but what good would that do?

With losing weight, the process is physically the same. You’re working out, making healthier choices and seeing results! You hit milestones, but you also hit plateau’s. You could give up… having lost the weight you have already worked so hard to lose, or you could push through and see that the end result (your goal weight) is near!

The Result

Whew! What an amazing feeling it is to have a freshly cut yard. Not only did you get a nice tan, a little cardio workout in, but also accomplished something that wasn’t all that easy.

You’ve reached your goal weight! It wasn’t easy, but you did it!! Take a moment to sit back and reflect on your journey and appreciate your mind, body and spirit for getting you through the difficult times.

That’s Not The End.

So you see that fence line? Yeah, there’s still weedeating left to do…

Think of this just like your weight loss. Just because you’ve reached your goal weight doesn’t mean it ends there. You have to maintain a healthy lifestyle or else you’ll fall back and have to start again from square one.

One Word: Willpower

It seems that as long as we have the willpower to do something, we can achieve it, right? Well, the thing is… willpower isn’t just something that magically appears. It takes true strength and energy to develop and maintain the willpower to do something.

Today, I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite strategies (or exercises) to help you increase your willpower and start living a more peaceful life:

Relax.

Ease stress and anxiety by relaxing your mind, body and spirit. True relaxation means giving your body a break by slowing down your heart rate and taking deep breaths. If you ever start to feel anxious, overhwelmed or angry… go to a quiet space, close your eyes and tune all focus into your breathing. You will boost your willpower when you are in a relaxed state of mind.

Be Mindful.

Mindfulness involves paying attention to your experiences, both good and bad. Recognize your feelings without getting caught up in them and support yourself in a way where you can find appropriate solutions. Always be happy with who you are and who you can become. Willpower requires the will to resist and the power of a resolved mind.

Reasoning.

Choose your battles wisely. Before acting on impulse, remember what you’ll be gaining from the fight. If you’re in a disagreement, choose to say nothing or walk away knowing you’re at peace with your decision. The willpower to stay strong in any situation can be the most difficult, but with the right mindset, the outcome will be truly positive!

Manage Stress.

Stress has several negative effects on our bodies. When you’re under high levels of stress, you’re more likely going to act instinctively, which will lead to poor outcomes. To relieve stress, follow the steps I’ve listed above:

  1. Relax! Take deep breaths and really tune into what exactly is stressing you out at the moment.
  2. Pay attention to why you’re feeling stressed and what you would like the outcome to be.
  3. Stay strong! Is the situation truly worth getting worked up over? What positive outcome is resulting in your stressful situation?

Think of willpower as a muscle. With the right excerises (that I’ve listed above), you can train it to work in your favor!

The willpower to eat healthier.

The willpower to resist temptations.

The willpower to live a happier life.

5 Coffee Beauty Tips You’ll Love!

So how many times have you made coffee and threw away the leftover coffee grounds? — What if I told you that you could use those coffee grounds for beauty hacks like smoother skin, hair treatments, face masks and more?? Read along…

Face Scrub:
Coffee grounds have course particles that make for an excellent exfoliating agent. Exfoliation will remove dead skin cells, and any dirt and grime build up you may have. Here’s how to make your own face scrub:

  • Equal parts coffee and sugar.
  • Drop olive oil in and mix to a thick consistency.
  • Apply on your face gently massaging in circles. Rinse and enjoy your rejuvenated skin!

Cellulite, Stretch Marks & Wrinkle Treatment:

Coffee is full of antioxidants! The caffeine in coffee helps to increase the blood circulation that helps treat cellulite, stretch marks, wrinkles and dark circles. Here’s how to make this multi-use oil treatment:

  • 4 tbsp ground coffee
  • 8 tbsp coconut oil
  • Heat in a pan for 30 minutes on low heat, then strain the oil.
  • This oil treatment can be cooled or warmed before rubbing into skin. You can also use this on your hair!

Tighten & Brighten Skin Mask:

A coffee facial can help brighten and tighten skin and also prevent clogged pores, which makes the skin look more healthier and fresh. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Coffee Powder & Honey
  • Mix to a butter-like consistency and spread the mask gently onto your face.
  • Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse!

Lip Scrub:

Why buy lip scrub when you can make your own? By removing dead skin on your lips, this scrub will bring out fresh new layers making them smooth, soft and oh so kissable! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mix 1/2 tsp coffee grounds with 1/2 tsp honey.
  • Gently rub mixture onto your lips in a circular motion for 30 seconds.
  • Remove with a wet cloth!

Scalp Treatment:

The caffeine content in coffee clearly has several beauty benefits! This simple treatment will help to promote hair growth, add shine to your hair, and reduce hair fall! Here’s what you’ll need for this scalp moisturizer:

  • Coffee grounds & conditioner.
  • Gently massage conditioner and coffee grounds into scalp for 5-10 minutes. Rinse and repeat weekly!

So my favorite thing about these beauty tips is that you most likely have all of the ingredients at home! Who knew coffee could have so many amazing benefits? Share your results with us:
