DIY Ring Light $12

Why a Ring Light??

A ring light is a handy tool for all types of photography and video. They provide a more uniform light that comes straight from your camera’s point of view. It’s amazing at eliminating shadows and great for use in darker areas…

Here’s What You Need:

  • Aluminum Foil $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • Metal Wreath $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • Zip Ties $1 (Dollar Tree)
  • 16ft Rope Light $8.98 (Walmart.com)

Step-By-Step How To:

*Note: Be sure to purchase the “Daylight” LED Rope Light (I used 16ft). Also, Walmart.com had this for $9, while in store it was $12.98 so I shipped it to the store for free same-day pickup to save a few bucks!

Step 1: Line your wire wreath with aluminum foil.

Step 2: Make sure you leave a little slack in your rope so that you can plug it in and have enough rope to move it wherever you’d like.

Step 3: Start on the outside edge of your wire wreath and zip tie your lighting rope onto it snugly. — You can use as many ties as you’d like! I started off by outlining the wreath and tying in 4 secure spots and then added them in more often as I worked my way in.

Step 4: Once I got to the end, I turned it over and secured the connector piece to the back. I used two zip ties to make sure it stays in place.

Step 5: Lastly, cut off all of the excess ties! Easy peasy…

Step 6: Figure out where you want to set up your light! I have a great place to just lean it up against the wall on my desk, but you could also use a metal toilet paper holder and zip tie it to that for a super cute stand!!!

Check It Out!

Just look at the difference!! The far left, is without the ring light, but with the room lights on. The middle picture is with the room lights still on, but with the ring light on as well. The far right is phenomenal; The lights are completely off and only the ring light is on… what do you think??

Side Note: This DIY was so simple, my toddler enjoyed helping!

Before looking up DIY’s on YouTube, I was about to invest $90 on Amazon on a super nice (very similar) Diva Ring Light!! Ahhh… I’m so glad I did my research. So I’m bringing you the most simple, cheapest tutorial out there for your very own diva ring light! — Enjoy!
