How Mowing the Grass is a Lot Like Losing Weight…

If you’ve been following me on social media, then you know that I’m currently on a weight loss journey (or lifestyle change as I like to call it). I’ve lost over 40 pounds now and only have 9 more to go to reach my goal weight! It hasn’t been easy, but the journey has been rewarding… 

So what does this have to do with mowing the grass? Well you see, today I decided that I would do my husband a solid and cut the grass before he got home from work. He works all day, it’s the least I could do… 

While I was out there, a lot of thoughts ran through my head. They actually reminded me of a lot of thoughts I’ve had while on my weight loss journey.

The Struggle

The struggle is real when it’s 84 degrees outside and the yard looks a lot bigger than when you don’t have to mow it.

The same goes for losing weight. You’ll hit various struggles, but will you let that derail you from starting? 

The Process

So you’ve mowed the front yard, now you have the whole back! You’re sweaty with slightly sore legs and the thought of having the entire backyard left is daunting. You push through (quite literally) and feel great about what you’ve accomplished thus far. The picture above I was halfway finished! I could give up, but what good would that do? 

With losing weight, the process is physically the same. You’re working out, making healthier choices and seeing results! You hit milestones, but you also hit plateau’s. You could give up… having lost the weight you have already worked so hard to lose, or you could push through and see that the end result (your goal weight) is near! 

The Result

Whew! What an amazing feeling it is to have a freshly cut yard. Not only did you get a nice tan, a little cardio workout in, but also accomplished something that wasn’t all that easy. 

You’ve reached your goal weight! It wasn’t easy, but you did it!! Take a moment to sit back and reflect on your journey and appreciate your mind, body and spirit for getting you through the difficult times. 

That’s Not The End.

So you see that fence line? Yeah, there’s still weedeating left to do… 

Think of this just like your weight loss. Just because you’ve reached your goal weight doesn’t mean it ends there. You have to maintain a healthy lifestyle or else you’ll fall back and have to start again from square one.
