You see, I too struggled with weight loss. After having 2 babies in 2 years, my body was no where near where I wanted it to be. I felt miserable, depressed and stressed. I spent what seemed like an eternity trying to lose weight, get back to my pre-baby weight and feel like myself again. Of course I love being a mother, more than anything… but I wasn’t able to give my children or my husband the best of me feeling so uncomfortable and with a major lack of self-confidence. It’s so easy to forget about yourself when you’re busy taking care of everyone around you.
What I’m about to share with you is the EXACT routine that I have been implementing over the last couple of months that have changed my life in more ways imaginable. Where to Start?
The first three weeks of my new lifestyle change, I looked at everything I was eating that was unhealthy and made small changes over time. I first cut out all sweets, junk food and fast food, then lessened the starchy foods like breads and pasta. I also made sure to drink more water than usual during this time as well. At three weeks, I was down 7 lbs, my body adjusted to the change and I moved onto my next strategy…

Now, when you hear the word “fasting,” you’re probably already turned off and think this means you need to starve to lose weight, right? — WRONG!
Intermittent fasting is essentially a pattern of eating. It has been around for ages! It’s when you schedule designated hours to eat and designated hours that you’re not eating. Most people who do this follow a 16:8 ratio, which means they eat for 8 hours and fast for 16. Sound difficult? Let me break it down:
- Eat from 12pm to 8pm
- Fast from 9pm to 11am
Basically, you aren’t eating right before bed or while you sleep and you skip breakfast. That sounds much better, right? So while you’re in the “fasted state,” your body doesn’t have any recently consumed meals to use as energy, so it pulls from the fat that’s already stored. This is how you shed weight fast! I follow a 19:5 ratio (eating from 1-6pm), but find a method that works for you and make small changes if needed. The first month I started intermittent fasting, I lost 22 pounds!!!
Start your mornings with a bottle of water, then have a cup of green tea. Green tea does amazing things for your body!

What to Eat?
Most people who do intermittent fasting calorie count. I honestly feel like that sounds like more of a “diet” than a lifestyle change, so I absolutely do not count calories, but if that’s what you would like to do, then go for it!!
Instead, I eat low-carb, high protein foods. I eat a lot of meat, fish, veggies, avocado, hard boiled eggs and lettuce wraps! I’m currently still experimenting with new foods, but it’s important to still eat — and enjoy food!! This isn’t designed for you to be miserable…
Let’s Talk Fitness.
Before this new lifestyle change, I dreaded going to the gym! I wanted to start with something light and work my way up.
That’s when I discovered my new found love of yoga! I started with just 5 minutes every morning on a free app called Asana Rebel, which I TOTALLY RECOMMEND to everyone wanting to try out yoga. After I got more and more comfortable with it, I started their 10-20 minute free yoga sessions and that’s what I’m currently doing every single morning. Yoga gives me the sense of relief and relaxation that I desperately need, which is why I’m now hooked!!
While I was doing yoga in the mornings, I knew that still wasn’t enough, so I looked for a free online workout routine that I could enjoy. I stumbled upon the 15 Day Mommy Fit Challenge on YouTube! A challenge? Heck yes — just what I needed to hold me accountable and stay on track! Her workouts are only 20-25 minutes long and are designed for pregnant, post-pregnancy and beyond (which is why I really enjoyed this).
Now, I’m at such a wonderful place with my fitness that I truly enjoy working out! I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, I continue to do yoga daily and I slide in home workouts as much as I can. Never in a million years would I think that I would actually look forward to going to the gym or even holding myself accountable from food decisions to home workouts… it’s an amazing feeling!
Find an accountablitly partner! Buddy up with someone who also wishes to live a healthier lifestyle and do home workout challenges or hit the gym together.
My #1 lesson I’ve learned is to not get wrapped up with the number on the scale. The picture above is March 1st (left) and March 30th (right). I lost just 6 pounds this month, but a total of 11 inches!! Exactly what I mean by not getting worried about the number on the scale…
Record your results!! Take those before and after pictures! When I was 170 pounds just 4 short months ago, I was too embarrassed to take a picture. I regret that now!
