10 Ways to Stop Living for the Weekends

Week after week I am always amazed at how many people live for the weekends. I am constantly reading posts on social media about someone complaining that it’s Monday, or that they can’t wait until Friday… 

I get it, you work during the week and your weekends are spent with friends and family, but why not live each day like it’s the weekend?? Why limit your happiness to just two days and not all seven? To be honest, I used to live this very same way until I looked at the bigger picture. It wasn’t until I noticed how small changes every day can make my day full of excitement and truly eventful.

MORNING ROUTINE.

Wake up each day with that “warrior princess – take over the world” attitude! If you checked out my last post, I shared how I get motivated each morning. Read a positive quote, a chapter of your favorite book, watch a motivational clip, check out the latest gossip magazine, or get ready to some pump-up music. Here’s my current Morning Vibes Playlist



GET DOLLED UP.

That’s right, throw on your favorite outfit, wear your expensive jewelry, spritz your favorite perfume and rock it like nobody’s business. Not only will you feel like a million bucks every time you look in the mirror, people will come to the conclusion that you have your life together (when in reality it can be total chaos). Fake it until you make it girlfriend! 

Check Off Your To-Do List Early.

Is your to-do list a mile long? Mine usually is and I never end up doing everything I listed which ends up totally killing my vibe. Anyone with me on this? I’m a total lister (is that even a word) so I still use my lists, but I write out the most important thing first and so forth and try to finish it as soon as possible. This way I have the rest of the day to focus on other things (that provide happiness of course). 

Schedule a Mid-Week Outing.

Who ever said date night needs to be on a Friday? Break the rules and schedule a weekday date night, ask the girls out for sushi on a Tuesday or even head to the movies with the kiddos on a school night. Yeah, be the cool parent for once… kids have enough energy for ten adults plus that’s what coffee is for the next morning when you so desperately need a pick-me-up. The point here is to live life to the fullest and that involves M-F. 


Stop Trying To Do It All.

This goes back to my tips on lists. You are one person! You absolutely cannot do it all. Your health and happiness means you need to be the best version of yourself that you can be and you cannot be this trying to do it all. Relax! Grab one of those famous bath bombs (they truly are pretty amazing) with your glass of wine and take a nice long bath… the laundry pile on the floor can wait. 

Practice Kindness.

This may seem simple, but how many times a day do you give a compliment? How many days a week do you do a good deed for someone else? Think about this for a minute and then find ways to implement kindness to your week. Tell your coworker on the elevator that you love her shoes, compliment a clerks nails, hold the door open for someone, or leave a note on someone’s car in the parking lot. A little bit of kindness goes a long ways… if you need more ideas, check out this list of 100



Make a Change.

Let’s face it. If you really dread getting out of bed each morning and heading into work, start looking for a new job. If you’re counting down the hours until class is out, maybe find a new career path. Struggling to pay off debt? Start establishing a savings plan. Baby steps ladies… nothing happens overnight, but the sooner you start, the sooner you’ll get to where you want to be. 

Find a Passion Project.

What are you passionate about? What excites you? Start taking time each day to put towards your passion. For me it’s bullet journaling. I love writing and scrapbooking, so it’s a good mix of both. Take up photography, sign up for sewing lessons, dance classes, or even start a small business. On top of blogging and motherhood, I also own my own nail business that I am extremely passionate about! It provides that “me time” I so desperately need (not to mention extra income is never a bad thing). Whatever you decide to partake in, just be sure it makes you happy! 

Create a Comfort Zone. 

What area of your home are you most comfortable in? I love the way my house feels during Christmas time when there are lights, warm candles and cozy blankets. So you know what I did? I put up white lights above my kitchen cabinets that I keep up year-round, I stocked up on cozy blankets when they went on sale and I have candles burning throughout the house. Create a space in your home where you feel cozy and complete… you won’t regret this small investment toward a happier you! 

Lastly, Stop Counting Down.

Stop telling yourself that Monday is crap. Be present in every single day and start enjoying life! Time is precious, occupy it wisely…
